Christmas Lunch
Christmas Lunch
27 November 2015 Friday 27 Liverpool CERSA members met at noon at the Birches Restaurant Birkenhead for their annual three course Christmas lunch. We took over the whole restaurant except for one table of three people. Again the men reminisced about the old Customs & Excise Department while the women gossiped about life in general.
Thanks to Bob Powell for organising a grand day out.

Pennington made the trip to Southport at the age of 90 and was complemented for looking so fit. Thanks Margaret for organising the lunch.

ROYDEN PARK WALK AUGUST
12 AUGUST 2015 WEDNESDAY
On a bright sunny morning Bob Powell led 4 members and 3 friends on circular walk from Royden Park. the route took us over Thurstaston Hill, and over field tracks to the old village of Caldy and down onto the Wirral Way. After a brief stop at Cubbins Green to take on water and enjoy thge view of the Dee Estuary we left the Wirral Way at West Kirby village and passed the Ring O Bells Pub and ascended sixty five steps to the Mariners Monument for a panoramic of West Kirby, Hilbre Island and the North Welsh coast. We continued along Caldy Hill through gorse, heather and woodland to the view point and the monument to Sir Alfred Paton who present the area to the Public in 1929. We continued into Stapledon Wood via a host of small paths to emerge onto the A540 and to return to Royden Park via open field paths. Reg Armstrong's mileage gizmo telling our mileage and we were surprised to log 7.5 miles for a scheduled 6.5 miles walk. No wonder we were tired when we got to the Cottage Loaf Pub for a late Lunch where we met up with Ken and Irene Potter and Audrey Nield. What more could we ask, a glorious sunny day, an interesting walk and good company. Thanks to Bob Powell for the photos and itinery

On 21 May 2015 19 Liverpool CERSA members June meal was transferred from the Liverpool Catering College to the Old Custom House, Cunard Building Liverpool due to the Catering College staff being seconded to the Cunard Building to open a Pop Up restaurant to celebrate the Cunard 175th anniversary and the arrival of the Three Queens in the River Mersey.
The meal in the Old Long Room brought back many memories for those who worked there (myself included). Thanks to Reg Griffiths for arranging the meal.
